The Fiat Abarth 695 Biposto may be the dream car of many serious car lovers, but only 10 to 15 Aussies
will be able to live the dream as that is how many of the pricey new vehicles will be coming to Australia.
As Fiat spokeswoman Lucy McClellan puts it, “We have 15 cars. That’s where we thought the demand
would be because, obviously, the price of admission is quite high. The Biposto is likely to appeal to
collectors. Customers who may already own a supercar.”
Even though a small number of customers will be able to own a Biposto, the car gives would-be owners
plenty to drool over. As McClellan puts it, “The Biposto comes with the proper street cred. If you’re after a
race car that has been reverse engineered for the road, then this is the car for you. I challenge anyone to
find a vehicle that offers the same sense of theatre and race car experience anywhere near the price.”
Why Do Car Lovers Long For The Fiat Abarth 695 Biposto?
What makes the Biposto so appealing to car lovers?
Its amazing power. With a 1.4 T-Jet turbo engine, the car can do 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and
achieve a top speed of 230 km/h. While you might not need these capabilities in most driving
situations, you know you have them available.
Its dog-ring gearbox. A coveted upgrade, the dog ring gearbox will allow clutch-less gear
changes on a manual transmission for fast, precise, shifting due to gears that are thicker and
have a number of teeth (dogs) with different size openings that engage during the shifting
process. Driving a car equipped with a dog ring gearbox is a bit different than one with a
synchronised engagement gearbox that most cars have, but the dog ring gearbox makes for an
Its “made for action” looks. With only two seats, the car is made so you don’t add weight to the
997 kg that allows it to retain its weight to power ratio and allow it to move so fast. With
strategically placed spoilers, dual stage exhaust with tailpipes, and the coveted Abarth scorpion
badge, the car looks the part of a racer.
